dunno why it stopped working, i haven't touched that thing for over three years..
Probably some network changes which cause the check to take kinda forever.

Now it doesn't sound the alarm sometimes, especially when I'm away from computer I do not notice the magical mouse jump of game start, causing some significant afkings among the players. Yes afkKINGS!
I have to select the window to hear the sound, if I do something else, no alarm.
