Imho mortars are way to strong. They cause to much damage.
With right timing you can destroy two (real, non tinker) towers with a single spawn.

1. I doubt that mortars can kill 2 towers.
2. Easy to kill and cost a lot. In most cases mortars will just get instant-killed by spells and you waste so much gold.

mortars killing two towers is posible, but not from scratch, or a large upgrade differential (attack upgrade mortar team >> defenders defence)
