New Weapon: Star Shooter

With the new addition of the outpost we can probably assume that there will be new weapons added. An idea for a new weapon that I have is the Star Shooter, a 1750 gold weapon that is similar in nature to grenade launchers. Instead of being able to change to air only, it changes to ground only. Since there are more ground targets than air targets for it to shoot at, it is slightly weaker than the grenade launcher in change mode. The stats for the weapon are below:

STAR SHOOTER

Damage:111
Cooldown:0.9 seconds
Range:950
DPS:123

Change Weapon Mode:Ground Only
Bonus Cooldown:-0.15 seconds
DPS for Ground Only mode:148

*Note that all stats can be subject to change.
Going long range in mid takes no skill, so stop telling yourselves otherwise.

im thinking obviously that helicopter is the only air tank with 3k start mode so i think this weapon your suggesting has to be more expensive because there are so many possibility for ground tank and creeps grenade launcher has mode where it attacks air only think about it thats only...helicopter and air creeps but only ground weapon with hit...tinker scout anti and so on. aswel as there are more ground creeps Maybe make it a bit more expenisve

the only thing the special ground only mode is going to not target is zepplins and helicopters? if they have a helicopter i don't know why you wouldn't want to target them anyways. Am i reading this wrong or something?

ground only also wouldn't target buildings- making it much easier to get your shot off against tinkers. The damage bonus would need to be pretty small - say no more than ~10% of what the standard formula would give. so that would be a -0.1 sec cooldown (for an 11.1% boost).

an artillerie does not attack any buildings in only ground modeWink
but this seems a bit illogical since buildings seem to be very massive and heavy, which makes them keep on the ground...


edit:
i think in btanks there are 9 weapon modes:

1. normal->targets everything
2. creep only->only creeps
3. unit only->targets everything except buildings
4. only building->only buildings
5. player vehicle only->only player vehicles (both, air and ground)
6. air only->all air creeps and flying player vehicles (heli, airship, skytank, skyfortress)
7. ground only->all ground creeps and all player vehicles except flying ones
8. a) air player vehicles->only buyable by ground player vehicles, targets only air player vehicles (antiairgun)
8. b) air player vehicles->only buyable by air player vehicles, targets only air player vehicles (flak)
9. a) ground player vehicle->only buyable by air player vehicles, targets only ground player vehicles (bombs)
9. b) ground player vehicle->only buyable by ground player vehicles, targets only ground player vehicles (axe launcher)

i said it and i was just messing with googs. i understand how he wants the weapon to work. and to be honest i think any toggle fire weapons now are just too long to toggle. i've tried getting them many times but there was never a time when i wasn't waiting for the weapon to toggle so i just gave up on them. i would probably get soul stone if it had an instant toggle. Almost no one uses the specialty weapons so if you want to add another one how about making the ones we already got useful too while you're at it.

Right, toggle-weapons are heavily underused. Maybe reduce the toggletime again, or give them a special +5% damage for not beeing upgradeable?

I think der Satan is right. When I used toogling weapons they are quite often in wrong mode and waiting 3 seconds is not that goodSmile
The problem with not upgradable is, that if you got money you cannot improve your weapon power without teleporting back to base (=150Gold) and buy a new one.
The advantage of 2 basic magic start is, that you can make a 3rd one (in DPS) by just upgrading the first ones for 555Gold each without teleporting. The grenade launcher forbids extra damage without getting back to base.

I just understand it for 2 very different mode weapons like soulstone. it cost more than a starting weapon - and "creep only" to "Player only" is a clear difference in modes. From "Ground only" to "Normal" it is usally difficult to take any advantage of it, except you only fight ground tanks. But for this issue the "Axe Launcher" is introduced Big Grin

I already suggested first upgrade and after upgrade "changing" weapons 2 times in the past. There was no weapon like this till todaySmile, but I think it would be nice.

Good idea Lezowski.

I think the concept of a 1750 gold (or similar price class) flexible ground only weapon is good idea. I think such weapon should be implemented in the new shop in the next version to add more tactical weapon options into the game.
