Hey guys, I'd like to present you my just created new tactic.
I created it by the consideration of how to use the tank cannon, which we all know is very useful in begin-mid game.
"FE" stands for "Fast Exp".
I tried it two times in public games and it worked extremly well.
You start for example like this:
Buy a light tank, buy one basic magic and buy an "exp update".
Costs: 800 + 1111 + 900 = 2811
After you bought the exp update, you will need 100 more exp to get to lv4.
So at the moment you are lv3 and have of course 3 skill points, but you only use 2 of them, by skilling rocket lv1 + tank cannon lv1.
You have 200 gold in savings, so you can teleport to your favourite lane.
You should need about 30 seconds to get that 100 exp for lv4.So you are even lv4 when you play vs example against "heli-plasmagun" or "light tank-double basic" because they cant teleport.
Also if you play vs low cost it's no problem to get that 100 exp.
So when you are lv4, you use the new skill point + the one you saved on lv3 to skill rocket + tank cannon both lv2.
Comparing again to light tank-double basic magic you have one basic magic(74 dmg per sec) + tank cannon lv2(120 dmg per sec) = 194 dmg per sec
light tank-double basic magic = 74 dmg per sec *2 = 148 dmg per sec.
In Addition you have a lv 2 rocket, so you can work much pressure on the enemy at the begin of the game.You could also exchange the rocket with "Cluster Rockets" so you can creep very easy.
In the longer view you also get the advantage that you are much earlier lv10.
This is only an example, you are also able to use this tactic in many different Cases, if you like.

I'd appreciate comments or suggestions and proposals for improvement.

I don't play games by using an certain sheme when the games goes on so I can't say in general.
But I guess normally, I would up my basic magic first.
Then we'll have to see whats the enemy doing, if he ups normally his both basic magics I would buy another basic magic aswell or a fireball cannon, if he goes on hull first on fast iron hull, i would 1. defend until I can get a better tank or 2. follow him buying a hull.

Feedback: nice strategy, not unknown to meWink
I used it with demolisher some times, no weapon but upgrade and then you can use wave + arty + tank cannon OR if you play vs helicopter i use wave + tank cannon --> lvl 4 both lvl2Smile (this requires some "advanced" teamplay to work well)

For the light tank thing maybe you can use that in middle too with bow instead of basic magic. you get good creep kills --> gold also you can have lvl 2 rocket to help others to kill or get some kills yourself (commonly known as stealing xD)
With bow you can go for thunder tank or airship, works pretty good. If you dont like that or gameplay forces you to change you can buy a weapon first or whatever (not tested this way yet)

The problem is visible when you do the maths right:

*basic magic(74 dmg per sec) + tank cannon lv2(120 dmg per sec) = 194 dmg per sec

*double basic magic = 74 dmg per sec *2 +tank cannon lvl 1 (60 dmg/sec) = 208 dmg per sec.

So you are lower on dmg/sec at start, but it gets worse: When the opponent reaches lvl 4 you are lvl 5 without a single kill (lvl 1 to 4 need 900 xp, lvl 4 to 6 1200xp) then we have:

*basic magic(74 dmg per sec) + tank cannon lv2(120 dmg per sec) = 194 dmg per sec

*double basic magic = 74 dmg per sec *2 +tank cannon lvl 2 (120 dmg/sec) = 268 dmg per sec.

So you are way behind in dmg/sec and until lvl 7 you have no rocket advantage. In this time your xp advantage will become really low, making the xp@start a total waste. The only possiblity for this strat to work is getting kills with the lvl 2 rocket, but strats relying on kills are on a higher skill level rather bad (especially in terms of 'playability'-they are way harder to execute).

The advantage you have with demolisher is you can use your skills to kill. Thats why I mentioned that it needs some teamplay as you cant kill alone but with another mate maybe with antigrav or something which would be:
Demolisher lvl4 (after less than one minute) = arty lvl2 (480dmg) + wave lvl1 (170 dmg) + Plasma Clusters lvl1 (250 dmg) = 900dmg + ((prolly) tank cannon(60dmg) or maybe antigrav stun (100dmg) or if the target had some lifeloss already)

Opponents will just play super defensive until they are lvl 4 and maybe have a hull. With such strats you rely on your opponents making mistakes, but as soon as they don't make any you lose. It's just way to exploitable.

Yes, I just noticed aswell that i did forgot the cannon lv1 :| :|
and I know arguments which refer to public games don't say much , but I played in the whole vs some good players and i had a really big advantage to lv10, so I was able to get both lane cps with troops + ulti of light tank, when they were still lv 8.

umm even that doesnt work out as well u did bring up an interesting point: saving skill points.
i wonder if it would work. say when ur lv 3, save ur skill point for 2 lv 4 skills

this is good if you play against tinker who hasn't bought hull in the beginning and it has bought energy torpedo ot something so ha can't but hull until income or something so you can kill him whit lvl 2 rockets. This way you get some xp + money to buy better weapons and kill your enemy

yes of course it works.
You can use it in different situations, but for example with Gobo Tank Lv9. On lv9 you normally only skill the speedthing or the exploding mini-gobos.Instead of skilling one of them you can save your point and skill on lv10 ulti + hammer lv4.

:? I think this tactic is not a good option in a pro game. Your only advantage is 2 levels at start, your disadvantage is 1 less weapon. 60-74=-14 damage at start. After 30 sec, it will be level2 vs level4, and after a while your level difference will melt down, while your enemy's weapon wont melt.

Sad Possibly your enemy will creep more and as a snowball effect, it will do better as progress continue...

:wink: Better to get experience in battlefield not from a shop..

no good in many ways

and one of the #1 reasons, the long range noobs

it's good for raiding towers and creep feed early in game, but horrible againts the long range boats


However in a similar setup, there is a good weapon tank combo that quickly rapes long range noobs early in game.

and many has already started copying the tactic, so... hmm.. time to invent something new

is boring when everyone starts copying you.

Great Tactic against Tinker, can use Lev2 Missile 5-6 Kills before a tinker can get hull as they normally buy weapon first, good scoresheet start and nice little earner (600+ gc). Easily give u a bigger boost in exp and 2nd weapon.

Better then Demolisher as you dont need to aim to shoot down those annoying moving tinkers. :mrgreen:

A good tinker can evade rockets, but only 1 out of 100 is a good one - most tinkers are uselessConfusedhock:

like yesterday, a 5v5 game, and 4 out of the 5 were tinkers, only 1 actual tank and it was a copter to boot..... so needless to say it was like open season on tinkers

funny thing is they all went to the center, got their towers up and loaded with long range, before my team was able to organize

i was thinking, "wow!, they might actually pull it off" you know 4 towers loaded with long range, that would have been a pretty nice wall to go againts.... but nope, and that was they did not think about
it was a nice "defensives offensive" but seems like they forgot there were 2 more lanes on the sides

so, instead of being a fool like my team mates and dug it out in the middle i raped both sides, since they had no weapons to defend againts.... it was a piece of cake

once they lost both sides, it became open season on the tinkers

Buying an exp boost doesn't really give u an extra advantage against other players. Getting exp from the battlefield is much better and cheapere. The only tank that needs exp boosts is exploders.
