First Shift 1 is allright it never gives the best tank build, you can try to counter your enemys etc.
One strong tank build in pro games in midgame i would mention its standard and very strong.
Demon Tank, with short ranged weapons (ice cannon, poison and flamers) + Teleport.
more you doesnt need, this is really strong.
One advice: Play random tank!
I play at least 75 % random tank so you learn to play every tank, you get many different tank builds, i use approximately 10 different starting tank builds you learn all strength and weaknesses of all tanks.
What i do later in the game depends on my enemys and my position (lane or mid).
Be flexible and i think in pro games it is a huge adavantage if the enemy doesnt know what you buy next! Yea shift i know you love heavy tank^^
