anti grav's emp torpedo bug - psycodiver - 2009-09-18

hi
the emp torpedo skill of the anti grav is buggy
the description says its 900 range
various testing has suggested to me that it is infact...
closer to 875 range.
can u guys fix this?
i do have a replay that goes for 2 mins attached showing this bug
replay version is warcraft 3 1.24, btanks ver. 8.64

Just had a look at the map and there is no bug. The rage of the EMP Torpedo is 900, so the tooltip is rightWink.

Exo just told me that the size of the tank model could probably cause a mismatch in the "observed" range. Perhaps Pala knows more about that.

The animation index center of the Antigrav's model is quite in the model's middle. That means if you look at your enemy (facing angle of the unit) while casting EMP Torpedo, the total range is reduced by ~10-15.
However, if you're looking sidewards (f.e. target angle+90°), the 900 range part is used completely.

That "bug" is not fixable in Warcraft, the original spell is used with the Warden hero. The hero's model is nearly round and the distance from the animation index center and the model's outbounds is always the same radius.

To short the things up, velo was right, that problem is based on the engine and neither necessary to fix nor really noticeable.
