Shuffle Players mode - bobbob247 - 2009-04-28

Just looked over at the other part of the board, and noticed this wasn't suggested yet.

The host should be able to type in -sp within the first ## seconds of the game, (or maybe part of a custom mode) that shuffles all the players into random slots (generating random teams).

this has been suggested somewhere before

Re: Shuffle Players mode - Dr.Popitz - 2009-04-28

I'd rather like to see the possibilty to change the team. You know, to balance the teams if some players leave or get kicked. But I don't think that's possible with the wc3 engine. :|

Re: Shuffle Players mode - bobbob247 - 2009-04-29

It was suggested in the Guests section (either that or it's like 7 pages old), so I opened this in the Suggestions section.

It would definitely be possible with the WCIII engine. A simple redefinition of alliances, possible relocation of graveyard stuff and items in base, etc. I'm for both the -sp mode and -rebalance, to even out the teams.

Re: Shuffle Players mode - horselance - 2009-05-03

No need for such a big job. You can be in any team you want. If you want to mix teams, then do it before game starts. People are in the team they want. If it is a public game, people are already random. If it is an arranged game, people can shift teams.
And it can be done with bot commands !sp if it is a bot game.
If people are all at same level, then there is no need to shuffle. If people are not at same level, shuffled teams will not be balanced, you need to balance it... etc etc

Re: Shuffle Players mode - GooglyBoogly - 2009-05-03

sp is a great way to play so you don't get people fighting to be certain colour - usually grey or yellow.

Re: Shuffle Players mode - Tynkywinky - 2009-05-04

i see no reason to shuffle the players, because in a public game they already are shuffled.

Re: Shuffle Players mode - Gammagulp - 2009-05-04

Well, although I think its a nice idea - I think it is too much mapper work for a quiet low ingame rewardSmile

Re: Shuffle Players mode - Tynkywinky - 2009-05-04

still bad idea to shuffle cuz, do u do that in dota? No, see.

Re: Shuffle Players mode - Dr.McNinja - 2009-05-05

lawl... you obviously havent heard of -sp command. Shuffle in dota is used quite a lot, especially in clan and organised games.

using *sp on a bot works.

I think an alternative would be a command or mode where all players are shuffled and their names changed to random bot names or something, so no one knows who is who unless they recognise the play style or chat. Millions of probelms on top of what comes with inserting shuffle function. Actually i think the changing player names thing is near impossible; how will you ban if it works?
