Modified version of BT with cheats? :S - iver56 - 2008-12-07
I just played a public game of BT 8.55. I found that red had surprisingly good weapons, regarding his number of kills. I thought he was cheating.
In the end of the game, when he came with his titan while the rest of us were still using mid-game tanks, he confirmed that he had been cheating.
I think it's bad that one can modify the map and add cheats like just that :|
What do you think?

It seems he was definitely playing a modified map. The file name is BTanks855~1, I think. If people want to view the replay, they'll have to have the game file, so could you post that as well? You can upload an attachment through the post if you want, there's a tab that says 'Upload attachment' right under the submit button. I'm guessing you know where to find it, since you were able to upload the replay. Anyway, that's why he was able to cheat; odds are he put cheats into the game with the map editor.
@Exo: The map is protected, right? It seems your making the map editable only by those who can fix a crash bug isn't working out that well. You might want to limit the editable map to people you've known for a while or respected map editors who won't just screw around with it. Although the system has been working out pretty well so far, it only takes one or two cheated versions spreading around to ruin the reputation of the game.

Yeah, it's undoubtedly a modified version. When I joined the game, I had to DL the map. I found that suspicious.

I also saw another version today, called 8.55a. I tried to join the game several times, but got kicked before the DL finished.
I guess there is no official 8.55a?

No, there is not, but I have downloaded that map. Just in case anyone's interested, I'll upload it here. And if it is an official version I haven't heard about, please let me know.
EDIT: I watched the replay, and it's clear red cheated from the 100000 gold he suddenly received at about six minutes in.

No one besides me has the current unprotected map, not even Bob. And I also don't give it away. But there are some possibilities to remove the protection and edit the map, there's nothing I could do anything about.

Ah, yeah, I forgot that there's editing software that most mappers use to protect things that also unprotects them (if that's even a word). Anyway, I was referring to the 7.55 version that you have available for download, but I guess that's irrelevant since the changed map was current.
