-ZOOM 10000 ? - Vomitus - 2008-06-04 How about making able to zoom up to 10000? Or even to 20k-50k(considering that fov increases non-linear with distance increase). Re: -ZOOM 10000 ? - kittyonmyfoot - 2008-06-04 How bout we have a zoom out mode that blacks out the main screen and everyone plays off the minimap 0.o sry... too much coffee this morning Re: -ZOOM 10000 ? - Visjeplus - 2008-06-04 kittyonmyfoot Wrote:sry... too much coffee this morningO nice, let me have some of that super coffee, that continues to work from morning till 14.47 in the afternoon  Re: -ZOOM 10000 ? - kittyonmyfoot - 2008-06-05 ha... dunno what timezome the stamp is from but I posted that at 8 am my time
Re: -ZOOM 10000 ? - Exodus - 2008-06-05 The game is not playable at this distance, it doesnt matter how good your computer is, the fps will drop dramatically. Also, the screen turns partly black, to blend out things that are too far away, to avoid an even further decreasement of the fps. Re: -ZOOM 10000 ? - Vomitus - 2008-06-05 Is 5000 distance a critical point after which further increase of distance result in dramatic performance loss or does it lies a bit far? How can I make some tests on this map with increased view distance? Is there any way? PS This thing I asked not because of very good computer but because I've tested it on 24" monitor(wide) and it was merely enough 5000 distance for comfort game. Regardless that fact that criteria of comfort differ among people I don't think it would be too difficult to implement this - I even can make needed tests myself(just point me what to do). Re: -ZOOM 10000 ? - Exodus - 2008-06-05 No, 5000 is not a critical point, its more about 8000. And you can't test it, because the maximum range is set in the zoom trigger (which can of course easily be changed by us mappers). You can also see the 5000 maximum distance as an limiter, so that people with super strong computers or big screens won't have too much of an advantage against others
Re: -ZOOM 10000 ? - Vomitus - 2008-06-05 Maybe make it at least 7000? So my future 30" mon won't suffer much in usability ;-) _Edit I've tested with MapHack and found a strange thing: even on 5000 distance a world begins to fade to black when playing normal map(PvP). And, btw, this feature of MH does not work with BTs ;-) question is: what have you done to make it work on 5000? On 7000? Re: -ZOOM 10000 ? - horselance - 2008-06-09 "They all looks like ants from here..." How will it be possible to play if you cant even differ colors with that much zoomed out? Makes all fun off. Re: -ZOOM 10000 ? - TKF - 2008-06-10 Also, the black screen occurs when using extreme zoom levels. However, I miss 1 command. It's a command that allows the camera to watch straight down (make the game arcade like) and normal position Re: -ZOOM 10000 ? - Vomitus - 2008-06-13 horselance Wrote:"They all looks like ants from here..."Try to run a game even on a 24" panel. You'll see... Re: -ZOOM 10000 ? - psycho_dmr - 2008-06-15 wc3 + ws = sucks... i'm playing on a 22" too and the whole game is streched... i want ws support!
Re: -ZOOM 10000 ? - DerSatan - 2008-06-15 yeah, widescreen support! the game is stretched, and its so much about weapon ranges (on a widescreen, you have more range horizontal than vertical). quite difficult :? Re: -ZOOM 10000 ? - NoobStrike - 2008-06-16 I actually don't have a WS but I think this must be hilarious... Your rocket fires so far on the side and not so much up and down. Your tank moves faster from left to right and top to bottom... lol... pretty funny... Think I'll install the game on my laptop to test it out :p. Re: -ZOOM 10000 ? - RedNova - 2008-06-16 You can actually set the resolution you want directly in the registry of warcraft 3. It will be overwritten if you go back in the in-game options, but setting a custom resolution is definitely viable (HUD commands still get stretched a bit). I use a widescreen resolution myself, and no problem here. zoom 10000 is a bit much for my taste, because you need one hell of a computer to see that much models. The warcraft 3 engine was made with a much lower model count in mind. Re: -ZOOM 10000 ? - psycho_dmr - 2008-06-17 no, the whole game is streched, even if you edit it in the registry.. the only good thing is, that its not interpolated then.. Re: -ZOOM 10000 ? - Vomitus - 2008-06-17 Yeah, if you don't believe, set your lovely ws-resolution in registry, run BT-map, take heli and learn first skill. Use command -anglez to set camera directly on top of the world(90 degrees to the horizon line). Select first skill(bombs or whatever it calls) and look at the AoE circle
Re: -ZOOM 10000 ? - RedNova - 2008-06-17 Never said it was not stretched BTW. The FOV (Field of View) is kept the same for gameplay reasons (else 4:3 monitors would be at a disadvantage because of lack of info other widescreens resolution get). Like psycho said, it is merely to get more definition into your image. |
