New game modes suggestion - TKF - 2008-03-24

-fm -fastmode

Works in any modes. Must be typed within 2 min.

Increases xp gain rate by 100% (-he)
Increases tank bounty with 100% (-hb)
Gold pr second increased with 100% (-hi)

Using -wc command here, will stack with the -fm mode and make it even faster.


I like short games. I would like a command which would make a game shorter. I think this is the best suggestion. Also being killed gives more consequence in this mode, thus making it faster. A fast game with high xp rate.


Other random suggestions:


-dm -duelmode

No force creeps is spawned from creep factories at all in this mode. Upgrades disabled. Gold received from the force every 5 min gives a huge amount of gold, does cover some of the non-existing creep income.


-rs -resourcemode

At each trade post, there is a small trade hut which players can capture for increasing the gold income. At start both both force control 5 trade stations. Dark force control the windmill and light force control the fountain. The remaining closest trade stations is owned by the force. (This doesn't affect traders ability to trade).


The resource control benefits:

gold pr sec.
Code:
32 / (NPT * 3 +5)
->
(32 + TH*2) / (NPT * 3 +5)
OR

gold given by the force.
Each 20 min, each trade hut under control by the force trade hut gives a 2x marine value in gold directly to the force.


-wt -weaktanks

All tanks has only 50% of original hp

As most of my games are within the limit of an hour already, I see no use for this mode, but why not, wouldn't do any harmWink

i have no opinion about the fast mode(s), i would maybe try them, but i dont think i would really play them.

this duelmode is kinda stupid i think. it would be a totally different game concept, which doesnt fit to BT.

but this resourcemode really sounds interesting. i was to suggest some points over the map which you can capture (but not teleport to), which give a little benefit. nice!

I have sort of resource mode implemented in my map permanently. You can always go near the trade posts and build a trade hut for 1500 gold. It boosts your personal gold pr sec income, but the hut is always vulnerable from enemy attacks. If you buy it in the start, you sap and delay yourself your own natural tank and weapons development. It's gambling, but could be worth it if you preserve it through the game.

i like the trader hut thing, though i think i would more like capturable things which give team boni.

I want to hear what mappers think of fast mode. I like speedy BT games, so adding this mode for the host to type; I don't think this is a bad idea.

I think these ideas are much better than just plain rush (and ultra rush, which is ultra lame in my opinion).

fast mode is kinda implemented now as -highbounty. The games usually gets shorter in this mode.

I thinks its a rly good idea ^^ No mines at shops and no demolisher skill Mines. (no another skill instead, because I think theres not many people who will play this tank as long as 3rd start skill needs)

I hate hb mode, it is very unbalanced. It is not only a faster mode balancing is different.
For example you can easier go direct for demon tank.
I think the other special modes will become inbalnced too. Dont like the idea.
The problem is, most guys host -hb, so i am forced to play hb or leave when the host didnĀ“t say it before the game started.

Fast mode will quickly become -wc (weak creeps) mode you also need to throw in that upgrades and force gold happens in half the time. Also it will screw with lvl reqs of special items.

I get so pissed when I rush orbital and we're still 4 upgrades away >.<

These special modes do disrupt balancing though.
