Dealing with flamers - ckibibi - 2010-08-19

one of the problem with the remove of kick command is not being able to deal with flamers.
afk players are treated with a triger (i think) that activates when afk time reaches a certain value.
Maybe you could do the same for flamers with chat letters :
the game counts your chat letters during a game and you can get trophee for that ^^.
A flamer obviously will have a high numbers of chat letters.
So why not add a triger to kick someone whith high chat letters value?

it is not a auto kick, but like afk the vote kick is enable for players who talks too much : teams will decide if they want to kick the player or not.

So even if a player chat with a friend and reach the trigger : if he is good his team wont ask the kick (hopefully). But if a nooby little whinnig player just talk and talk shi... u can ban him after the trigger is reached or if he is smart he will stop talking to not reach the trigger : either way he is kicked or muted for the rest of the game.

The question is can you do this with chat letters count like afk time ?

well, I guess our mappers and guys from the dev. team got nothing to do but wainting until it´s time for bed
So why use the ´easy` way by squelching players, if they could trigger a new possibilty to handle with flamers (beside triggering to handle leavers, triggering the bots, triggering a new kick-sys.... and so on) Confusedhock:

well indeed thic command is good but i have to admit that the reason behind that is to kick (noob and feeder), because most of the time flamers are feeding (not on purpose at start but when they see they are loosing and that their teams are not on their side at end) and just because they think they are the best they play on their own with no teamplay when they see noones listen to them.
But maybe i am wrong with skills of flamers.

The mute effect was just a bonus from suggestion.

well I think the idea is not that bad
but try to imagine..... how often have you being in a game, where you had to write -no because of kick-vote (doesn´t matter if rightor wrong).... I got games where I got to typ in for over a couple of minutes only -no instead of playing, bacause someone wanted to kick another one....

Well ,atm we got a solution for that kick-vote.... but imo it is going to be the same again with votemute! Maybe not that effective instead of a kick, but I personally think that the command /squelch is enough for dealing with flamers ingame.
