where is the game-fun going? - Orthodox - 2010-04-08 Hi. I just want to write down, that I am so disappointed. Since 5 weeks, I was not able to play just one game without the fact, that someone was been kicked out of the game. Reasons for kicking someone may be: - noob / beginner - fail behaviour - not doing what other teammates want him to - not teleporting to a CP, while the enemies are trying to capture it ( here unbalanced power 1vs 4) - .... sure, one option could be that there will be only private hosted games, but also in private games, others will be kicked for same reasons. I.m.o. most of bt-players have forget, that you can have fun with playing battletanks! I just want to play BT because of having some fun, ether I am winnig the game or not. There was a time, when I was loosing a game, but indeed still having fun by playing fine with the others. now, most players I met are leaving a game at ´special` circumstances: - they are killed once ![]() - the middle- CP is lost - both lane- CP are lost - one player left (by leaving) ... result in their opinion : game is unbalanced ^^ - another circumstance... one player from team A. left the game.... team B. is calling for a balance-kick... Because of these behaviours, many people I know stopped playing BT, because it is no Fun any more. really pitty  Re: where is the game-fun going? - Paladon - 2010-04-08 Yeah, it's a pitty, but what can we do to change it? I experienced this on my own while playing incognito ![]() Re: where is the game-fun going? - Prog - 2010-04-08 It's true for public games and it's quite sad. For the league games we will find a solution to cope at least with leavers, as there are way too many who leave at the mentioned 'special' circumstances. Nevertheless kicking and leaving is at least in BuG private games a taboo and not appreciated. Re: where is the game-fun going? - VuDu - 2010-04-08 The same thing is going in Garena ![]() Re: where is the game-fun going? - Althend - 2010-04-08 It is more about the dynamic of the game. More you suck, more it gets hard to kill/survive then you suck even more. A "fixed income" mode would remove this problem for fun game. If each player gets the same amount of gold (like 500 gld/minute), people would less see the problem about feeders. (the difference between fedders/winners would be only experience) Re: where is the game-fun going? - Paladon - 2010-04-08 Well, and the main reason for this trend surely is the growing popularity, the more people play it, the "serious game" factor is rising (i guess). Re: where is the game-fun going? - RaptorXI - 2010-04-08 It is the unskilled players who ruining the games: feed, flame, not paying attention to the minimap at all or to anything important. But there are other games for persons like you orthodox: do you know the german Murmeln? Re: where is the game-fun going? - Orthodox - 2010-04-08 RaptorXI Wrote:It is the unskilled players who ruining the games: feed, flame, not paying attention to the minimap at all or to anything important. on the one hand you are right. unskilled players are feeding, sometimes flaming and stuff like that.... but what about players, who are new to that game? everyone of us have started one time playing this game, and was feeding and go on. So the solution is, that pro´s like you just play private games with other pro´s, so that you no longer have to meet ´unskilled` players^^ and your last sentence: If you want to tell me something, just write a pm or go another way, but don´t take this place, where people are discussing non- privat themes  and btw: yes, I know Murmeln well ![]() Re: where is the game-fun going? - Paladon - 2010-04-08 New players are not the problem - they are a clear gain for us. It's the way that you don't help them (or not correctly help them). BT is a teamgame. ;) Re: where is the game-fun going? - RaptorXI - 2010-04-08 Yes, there are still new talented players who are willing to learn this game. To the rest: ask Orthodox to teach you bt, he surely will do with his great knowledge as he did earlier in Klan BTNK. By the way: I still play both, private AND public games. ![]() Re: where is the game-fun going? - Orthodox - 2010-04-08 just  need nothing more to say. Re: where is the game-fun going? - ssl - 2010-04-09 Paladon Wrote:It's the way that you don't help them (or not correctly help them). BT is a teamgame.Sure, but most of the new players refuse to learn/accept hints. You can tell them what to buy, to heal if wounded but they (mostly) don't react. @Raptor&Ortho&Indeterm.: I tought we were clear about not mentioning clan tags anymore?! Re: where is the game-fun going? - Ger-Dyers-Eve - 2010-04-09 Paladon Wrote:BT is a teamgame.Sorry for flaming, but I mean the following thing only ironically: Teamgame? What the fuck is a teamgame? I dont know, whats the point of a teamgame is. I mean... YOU kill Tanks, YOU get the bounty (not the team - its only YOU YOU YOU) and so, if anyone will help me - he is a noob, because you will steal my kill. Ok, enough with flaming. But this is the real point, why public Games are not very funny anymore - beside the kicking and leaving of the players. Noobs? No Problem, I was very very noobish, too. But if you want to play with at least the best of the "random" players in public games, you need to work hard and improve your skills. So, I see no Problems in Noobs. No, for me its the mentaly (I want to have it all - not the team) of the players, which ruins the game - but this is in EVERY Multiplayer-Game on the internet a problem. There are only a few players which want to play in a team. Re: where is the game-fun going? - IlPalazzo - 2010-04-09 Unfortunately, this has always been a problem with public games, especially when players take the game too seriously and forget to have fun. It'll only get worse if the only servers up are the League-Bots... The only way around this is to have private game or to have servers dedicated to fun modes or casual games. Anna-bot did this, but Alternative Mode wasn't attractive and different enough to distinguish itself from normal. Re: where is the game-fun going? - Paladon - 2010-04-09 You don't win the game alone, your team does ![]() And you do not automatically win with a special amount of kills. Re: where is the game-fun going? - Orthodox - 2010-04-09 Yeah, I know, BT is a team-game. On the one hand, Ger-Dyers-Eve is right. You are killing your enemy, and not your team. You´ll get the amount. But on the other hand, with teamwork, you can kill enemies, which are better or got better tanks than you... with a teamplay, you can blast a scout away with two stunning-rockets, while only one rocket wouldn´t be enough  with a good teamplay, you can defend a CP, or capture a CP, what wouldn´t be happening while playing on your own. And like Paladon said: Your team will win the game. A single player only can get the best stats like tankkiller, surviver and go on  But unfortunately, teamplay in public- games is nearly impossible. ssl Wrote:@Raptor&Ortho&Indeterm.: I tought we were clear about not mentioning clan tags anymore?! where is my mentioning about a Clan-Tag :o ![]() Re: where is the game-fun going? - Orthodox - 2010-04-09 Althend Wrote:It is more about the dynamic of the game. More you suck, more it gets hard to kill/survive then you suck even more. that sounds interesting to me! Is it possible, to implement such a mode, to test it? maybe like testing the HB- Mode earlier? Re: where is the game-fun going? - Ger-Dyers-Eve - 2010-04-09 Orthodox Wrote:Yeah, I know, BT is a team-game.As mentioned, they are very much satirical Sentences in my post above (and also a few game-mechanic-criticisms *g*), so you dont need to take my post as serious. The Point which I meant, was: .) Throughout the Game-Mechanic (YOU Kill etc pp), playing alone will be rewarded, especially because both sides (dark and light force) will have those "lonewolfs" as I call them. This leads to the point, that teamwork will be unintersting for much players (because they arent knowing it better). So, everyone is fighting on its own. (The same thing is also WONDERFUL seen in the MMO Warhammer-Online at the Random-Players *g*) And THIS leads to the point of kicking - because "they are not at my niveau, because of all you feeders I will loose." You can read something like this nearly all time in public Games. My suggestion would be: In public Games, deactivate the kick-command. Every Victory depends on feeding, because someone MUST die  And if you are in a team, which is composed of 3 feeders, 1 tinker and you - then you have to accept it. The only point of kicking in my opinion is, to kick AFK-players. All would be fine, if all those players would just play (as a team or not) and not to worry about all those other players. And in my experience (ca 120 Public Games over 3 Accounts ) there are not that much advices, but 90-95% flames in the chat. Funny is, that most of the flamers have a very good kill-death-ratio and think for themselfs, they are now the leader because they are good Lonewolfs  Anyway, something need to be changes or a lot of new battletank-players will be gone in a few weaks. (Funny: First, the HB-Problem and now this. Players destroy every time their own play :mrgree:) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Fixed Income-Mode would be very interesting, as I see it ![]() Re: where is the game-fun going? - Orthodox - 2010-04-09 I didn´t want to take your points that serious as you mentioned  I was just showing up my point of view about teamplay ![]() Re: where is the game-fun going? - IlPalazzo - 2010-04-09 Althend Wrote:It is more about the dynamic of the game. More you suck, more it gets hard to kill/survive then you suck even more. Will people play it? Yes, the fixed income will prevent people from being kicked because there is not reward or loss for dying, but will people like that lack of reward/benefit for dying... I'm not quite so sure. I do agree though, that a "fun" mode that people will like to play is essential to the community's growth, because not every player is looking to an awesome "pro" at the game. In fact, most new players are simply just looking to have fun, not to perfect their Btanks gameplay.. A newbie has to slowly grow into the game, he have to play the game often, appreciate its dynamics, and slowly develop and refine his skill... It doesn't happen overnight, and it didn't happen by playing against people who kicked me constantly - at least not for me. The problem I see is that there isn't a recreational mode/server for players to experiment with strategies and tinker around with, there is only the league bots and the beta-bot. Annabot use to provide this, but people eventually stopped using that because Alternative wasn't much different than normal, and the league bots were "competitive" and "pro" in a sense. *Shrug* I do agree we need a "learning mode" or a "recreational mode", a mode where players can experiment with their strategies and refine their skills and without people worrying about their K:D ratio or they League rank.
