Cloud to balance air tank/ground - Althend - 2009-12-13

In order to redu advantage of air tank. Why not create some small effect of cloud/wind anything that make some random location of the map reduce/increase air tank speed of 10-20% when the tank goes trough it? The "cloud" would move randomely, player would have to avoid them or goes in them to get some extra speed.
It would increase the fun of air tank, the straight path would not be the best way anymore.

And for the ground, why not giving +10% speed when they are on the road? :p

any 'cloud' would need to be transparent enough so that it doesn't block vision of creeps/tanks/mines below - but was visible from the air.
The cloud would need to be pretty large in order for a 10-20% move penalty to have a noticeable effect, but then it wouldn't be worthwhile going around the cloud - so why have it at all?

Roads seem okay, I guess - but the bonus should apply to creeps as well.

Maybe make it visible only when you control air tank?
Making the could having a higher effect would make it more important: like 30% ? Or getting more damage +5 to 10% ?

The cloud dont need to be big, they can follow some patern that make some "main stream" ^_^

I also suggest that air tank dont get benefits from "strategic point" (with the flag)

There could be also rain in the cloud sometimes to demage the air tanks and slow them or wind

Better yet - hurricanes that will throw them halfway across the map... If they're extra lucky, in the middle of the enemy base.

these kinds of 'weather' effects were disapproved long time ago... ^^

Just an idea is a tornado demage ground and air tanks and pull them util it desapears. The lightning could demage all tanks and stun them for 5 sec but it recharges mana and for thunder tank - recharges the cooldown of all his magics or just doesn't stun and demage him. And fog - it appears somewhere in the map and where it is on the minimap is enabled fog of war there. And I disagree to be put in normal BT so this could be like a mod type - weather in the first 2 min of the game and the weather effects are turned onWink

how about suggesting a "weather tank" with these kind of skills? could be a nice "special" tank. ^^
some ideas to start with:
* storm - random strikes in an aoe of 1000 of the tank, dealing huge damage ( friendly units too ), rain increases nearby mana reg by 10% but decreases movement speed of tanks by 15%. ( channel )
* ashfall - creates a cloud at targeted area, reducing mana reg of enemy tanks. all enemy units in targeted area got a 66% chance to miss target.
* weather resistance - reduces damage taken by weather skills of friendly units by 20% per level, while increasing movement speed and mana lightly.
* daylight and moonlight - at day time: increases durance of skills by 5% per level <-> at night time: increases range/aoe by 5% per level ( some kinda weapon replacement )
* tornado (ult?) - summons a movable tornado at targeted area which reduces movement speed by 33% of tanks and drawing air tanks to the center of the tornado. the closer an unit ( friendly units too ) is to the center, the higher the damage it will take per second. ( channel )

*fog - it makes the map with fog of war for 20 seconds + 5 per level
*electron storm - it turn you minimap off while in it ,it slows by 33% and deal demage by electric balls fly in the storm and +6% slow per level and electric balls 1 lvl 250 dmg each - 5 balls and each level + 250 dmg and + 1 ball
and i like the idea and i wold like to be anew tank tooSmile
