I played a game recently and found out the following:
If you own 1 CP more on a lane you get more upgrades and 4 extra marines on that lane. You are not able to get creeps at that lane, because the little armor/ weapon difference and 4 extra marines make it sometimes impossible for the enemie creeps to attack the lane till the Control Point.
--> If the enemies are Air in early midgame you cannot attack the top lane for example (as dark force), because they will hunt you down from the mid CP - usally not falls that early
so you only can watch your creeps attacking till they reach the enemies Base and you dont get any gold from enemy creeps without huge risk of being killed

at the 5 min mark your force gold income is higher b/c of this but of course it is split equally to all your teammates as well. so you dont lose gold b/c of this. you just cant have all the creep gold to yourself.

you receive the money for the marines (and only from the extra marines), but the enemy can creep close before their base the big creeps and base creeps too. When you attack up to their base you will be damaged by the enemy tank close before their base and then 2 airships maybe come to kill you on your way back if you try to creep on that lane.

The enemy just needs to wait till the other creeps reach their base :mrgreen:

Its like 4/4 creeps "base wave"+4marines VS 3/3 creeps "base wave". The "3/3" creeps can no longer fight back, and so the bounty is running to the enemies.
(Maybe its just tactic, that Air players in middle stop creeping on lost lanes, but I dont think it should be that easy)

It is a problem concerning the point about having cp. The system is done so if you get cp, you lose xp (less creep to kill), same amount of gold but every 5 minutes and a bonus in upgrade. The fact is that in previous version cp were not that important du the balance of gold (and sometimes losing it is an advantage). The upgrade system is supposed to gives more incentive to get cp. If it reduce the possibility to gets creep, it is against his purpose because finally, the incetive to get the cp at lane also become and unincentive...
It is also about waiting 5 minutes to get gold or to get upgrade. It is better to let enemies take cp and take it back 20 sec before the upgrade times come :p
I like the fact of giving more incetive to get cp but I don't think that the upgrade system fit it nicely

yea its true what gamma is saying but usually when you have more cps you are usually stronger then your opponent or there are others in your team that are stronger.Usually means leaves risk of loosing the middle if more then +1 tanks goes after you but gamma still right never happens in private games

if the enemy team is good and they have mid cp and air tanks or stunning tanks with teleport like demon tanks or goblin tanks possibly with nets then i usually won't attempt to creep the side lanes near their base unless i have flying tank and i can stick to the outside or an earth tank with teleport.
might i suggest you also try suiciding into their base towers if they start flying in behind you and you know you can't make it back safely. that way they get shit for gold when you die. if i'm going side lane in a 5v5 for instance and i decide to try and farm a side lane i consider it my number 1 job to make them chase me for as much as i can and for as long as i can. sometimes i don't do so good though. it's not always easy, even with an earth tank. for instance, i learned that while earth tank owns one demon tank,it gets utterly ass-raped by two demon tanks coming from surrounding angles. on the other hand.
if i'm not covering the sides i try to keep an eye on enemy reactions to my teamates when they try to push the sides. sometimes i can tp to them and suprise the enemy who comes to gank them.

Well in the end its no problem if all got speed and or teleport and also quiet good weapons and tanks.
But usally in the "early" midgame (which means minute #20 till 30) you shouldnt have got earth robot or demon tank with teleport AND good weapons (unless you are pwning the enemy team, then it doesnt matter to talk about )
It just happens if the teams are quiet equal and one team loose its CP because of a stupid mistake, which has nothing to do with firepower or bad team and more because of bad luck or not enough concentration at that moment

1. In my opinion there is a point missing in your argumentation.

It's not only a disadvantage to be so close to the cp. It's bad in terms of creeping, but it's a huge threat to the mid players, as if you are for example an air ship you can easily help mid from a different angle, especially if opponents escaped with low hp.
2. Why should you still creep on that lane if you have problems doing that? There is no need to keep to the lane for the entire game, just force a 4v4 in mid or 2v2 on the other lane. It's more a problem of adjusting to the map, not the map itself.
I dont think it is a real huge treat. Since the team who has lost the side cp can creep from base and then teleport easily to cp from base. They get better creeping and have less problem to defends (less cp and possibility to creep easier so they basically get more gold)
So they can wait, do camping since they earn more gold. It is not hard to defend cp with 4 people vs 5.
Concerning the angle, the angle provided by the left cp is not so much lower than the one provided by up cp :o

Well I think althend get the point, what I mean. You can creep the upper lane and If "realy" neccessary cp Teleport.
CP Camping is all then and the defending team makes bonus gold. --> remember I am not talking of a game state of demon tank with teleporter 2 poison and so on

I don't see why you shouldn't just force a 2v2 on the other lane then (or 4v4 mid), which nullifys the problem in my opinion. Why should the problem be allways caused by the map, not by the players? (Of course, concourning epistemology it is allways caused by the players, but you get the point)
