Leavers....can wreck a team quickly

I'd like to see a combat timeout when someone leaves. Kind of like a yellow flag in a Nascar race. Leavers causes 2 things to happen, at the same time:

* Their friends get mass infusion of gold, and go shopping, which removes them from combat for 2-3 minutes.
* Meanwhile, enemy team sees the numerical advantage, and presses the attack.

The result is total disaster for the leaver's team. They are trying to spend gold, while getting attacked even harder than before. Many times the leaver's team is devastated, before getting to spend the extra gold.

There should be a time to regroup for the leaver's team, so they can stabilize.

That is definitely not the worst part of leavers, and how do you suppose we implement such a system?
Going long range in mid takes no skill, so stop telling yourselves otherwise.

It goes both ways. I thought this was about the leavers team getting overpowered. In games where im facing decent players with noob feeders, i love it when they leave because i know i can win with some extra gold. Happened many many times. Good players dont need any time to 'regroup' and 'stabilize', they just go with the flow because they know what theyre doing/what to do next.

What you could be referring to is the fact that while being sieged, a leaver can cause a massive amount of damage being done without any time to buy better weapons & crap to face them.

The whole situation seems to fix itself - one team will win or lose soon enough. Leavers get gold, possibly get smashed so quickly they havent spent the leaver-gold OR the leaver's team spends the gold and gain an upper hand BEFORE they get smashed. In which case, they shouldnt be getting smashed.

And so the leaver problem doesnt seem to do much. Its not less fun for either side because one side gets more gold and the other gets less enemies to fight.

If I'm reading Dr. Ninja right, you're saying that if the game is going to end, it might as well end quickly. And if the leavers team just happens to eke out a victory, good for them. Well, I don't like losing by team collapse, desperately buying psycho waves as the walls crumble around me.

Anyway, in the last game I played, all the leavers automatically turned into AI, which was smooth. If this is an option, I'd like to turn it on. If this is the new default, it pretty much solves the problem.

If not, this is how to implement a "yellow flag": Teleport everybody home. Turn off tele's and make objects invincible for 45 seconds. That's it. This frees up people to spend their leaver gold at the center shop.

Just saying how hard it can be to get a good balance on this issue when it can go in the favour of either side.

Leaver ai is also risky business as ive seen it pwn really hard but most of the time it just feeds. Better players will understand how bots act and can beat them far easier than others. To get leaver ai you need to be red and type -lai at any time during the game to turn it on.

This issue isnt isnt single sided like pros farming noobs, making it very difficult to solve. Leaver ai is one option.

Leavers seem to 'speed' up games, thats an observation.
