Unable to play on BTLeague Bots
#1
I can play on other BT bots just fine, but for some reason both league servers seem to be terribly laggy for me whenever I try to join them. So much so that I am usually kicked before the game begins. If I do get in, I seem to lag out within the first 15 seconds. Does anyone have this problem?

You don't lag out. The bot monitors your download rate and you get kicked after 15 seconds when the download-rate is below 10 kByte/s. This is a "security function" because there have been funny guys blocking autohost games by joining without the map and never started downloading. Now these guys also get kicked after 15 seconds.

You will have to get 8.67f from somewhere else (i'll send you a PMWink ).

I already downloaded the map through mapgnome, but I still seem to be having this problem. In game I literally frozen up for 30 seconds, played for 5, then froze up again and dropped.

EDIT: Just in case I'll replace the map with the file you sent me.

Nope, the same thing just happened, so I don't think my BT file corrupted.

Well your last try has been a spoofcheck issue and you again started to download the map (current time here is 16:55, so this is over one hour ago):

[Tue Jan 19 15:26:12 2010] [GAME: BTanks League Beta #6405] deleting player [IlPalazzo]: was kicked for not spoof checking within 20 seconds

Ok, now it's been your ping which is extreme high:

So that's what that spoof alert was about.

Sorry, I should have mentioned earlier, my Northrend name is DeathTank - IlPalazzo is already taken... I tried joining a few times with that account (with the map) and still get booted from the server.

Looks like there are some connection problems between you and the server:
Quote:[Tue Jan 19 16:49:26 2010] [GAME: BTanks League Beta #6412] player [DeathTank|140.xxx.xxx.xxx] joined the game
[Tue Jan 19 16:49:30 2010] [QUEUED: Northrend] /whois DeathTank
[Tue Jan 19 16:49:31 2010] [INFO: Northrend] DeathTank is using Warcraft III The Frozen Throne in game BTanks League Beta #6412.
[Tue Jan 19 16:50:06 2010] [GAME: BTanks League Beta #6412] deleting player [DeathTank]: has lost the connection (timed out)

But it doesn't look like a problem on the server side because the pings to some domains (like http://www.google.com) are constant.

Did you play on bennies bot (CLAN-xxxx-FM)? The server is located in the same data center. If you played on bennies bot without problems this should be a temporary thing.

I played on it occasionally... But I thought there were multiple CLAN-xxxx-FM bots, so I can't be certain if I used his specifically.

My school has a nack for blocking stuff - including ports that other games use. I can't use Ventrilo or play any MMOs beside WoW because of it. Could this be source of the problem? ... Excuse my inept knowledge of computers.

Blocked ports shoudn't cause hughe pings. Bur the timeouts may be caused by a firewall. Depends on the settingsWink.
#9
Hmm, maybe. When I have time I'll tweak with my security settings and try again... I just find it odd that these two host servers are the only ones I have a problem maintaining a connection with.

You should have the exactly same problem with the CLAN-xxxx-FM bot because it's the same serverWink.
#11
I had same problem yesterdayConfused

I was dropped each time T_T
I am so good that I don't even need to type -rc because I never die !
#12
Because your ping has been very high (500-1000 ms) ^^. But it's not a problem of the server. It's pinging some servers (also one in the US) and all pings are almost constant.
#13
Guess I'll have to wait and hope it changes.

Althend, did the lag ever subside for you?

It seems that I dont have the problem anymore.
The trouble was probably some leak about my own line ^_^
