Hey guys,
I know, this is kinda suprising, but due to certain circumstances I can't keep on working on BT in the future. I still have about two month worth of time to finish things, that are still left to do. After that ... well, at least for me the era BT will be over.
It's pretty hard to write these lines, even more than I thought, but there is no sense in further delaying this news. Well, it's been a great time and I learned a lot in these 2,5 years. Together we created a map, that's one of most popular ones on Bnet! (at least in Northrend anyway). I don't know what will happen after this. Maybe there is someone who wants to continue working on the map. If there happens to be no appropiate candidate, I'll release an open source version of the current map, so anyone who's interested can look into all the triggers and maybe even release his own mod of BT. This last option however, would effectivly be the end of the BT League. Since psycho_dmr, our admin, also no longer wants to support BT (which he also announced some weeks ago), it looks pretty bad for the league.
I surely hope that this won't be the complete end of BT, I still care much about it and I don't want to this project to just die away. As for Bob666, the initial creator of BT ... well he may consider it, but I guess chances are pretty low that he'll continue working on BT.
Some people also are pretty excited about StarCraft II and a possible BT mod for this game. You may have guessed it, but it seems like I also can't do this. Although things might change in the future, it just isn't likely at the moment, that I'll create a BT mod for SCII (but I still plan to get the game!).
Since I don't have anything more to say atm, I'll just end this announcement with a big Thanks! to the community, which made BT what it is today - certainly a great map!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH T_T
A great thanks for all you have done. Truely thx you.
You should not leave it that way. Why don't you just recrut a team of maper under your direction (so you wont have to spend that much time and keep some control)?
Some talentfull maper like TKF would surely help you.
Thx for this great game
I am so good that I don't even need to type -rc because I never die !

Well, this had to happen someday....
Althend Wrote:Some talentfull maper like TKF would surely help you. Ehm nommmm I'm not the appropriate candidate to continue the map. Better be that if bob666 could continue the map and update once a year it would be good enough. I don't want to see 100 versions of crappy battle tanks mod versions.
But most likely bob don't wanna continue battle tanks. I want him to use his amazing combat engine into a new battle tanks map and make the projectile being able to miss, that would be amazing with the 3d projectile system just like in Supreme Commander with shields and stuff. Since the battle tanks is a AoS map, that wouldn't lagg so bad since every player mostly control 1 tank + some creeps.

The thing is, that I won't have any spare time to work on the map. So that's not an option.

Too sad to hear this
Thanks for your time you spared till now Exodus. (+2 months further)
I dont want to see 100 imba mods too. It is better to give it to a good mapper. We will still continue to help anyone who continues the job. I wish i had the time to do the job... I dont even have the time to edit my maps.. Maybe TKF can do the job dunno.. It shouldnt be insane map though

thanks for your early warning Exo.
You will be missed.
I have a q:
What about these forums? Will they still continue to run, or will we need to find a new sponsor(s) to fund and manage the site?

Hey Exo,
I think this is the point to say "Thank you" for all the time - hours after hours - of testing, mapping, experimenting and supporting ideas from the Community. I believe it´s not possible to put that much work into words, that can acknowledge it enough. A lot of BT players will remember your name.
I hope you got as much success in your life as in mapping here. Just Thank you
(I am afraid we wont find a good mapper)

hum, thats sad... I've still hoped that there will be a "restart" with sc2 and that we can beat dota then maybe, just because we're there from begin of the game.. but now, hm R.I.P. BT
so thank you for everything exo! hope your reasons are positive reasons, not bad ones.
@GooglyBoogly: i can host the site & forum too in future, but there is one question: why?
the whole battle tanks section (feedback, suggestions, bug reports) are obsolete now, so this forum will be only for some strategic suggestions ans OT... maybe it is better to close the forums then and let BT die in glory.

Can't think of more appropriate words to say, it's the best wc3 custom map in my opinion and there was for sure a lot of work and effort put into it - thank you.

:( really really sad, too.
great thanks for all your work, exo.... and my best wishes for your RL future!
I am also afraid that there will be no BT mapper ( good enough), to continue the work.
So I am really afraid of an invasion of BT- Mods hock:
hope that there will be someone to continue it :?

Andersherum ist dies schon erheblich schwieriger.

I think you can be proud of what you achieved. BT is such a great game, its really good balanced, all bugs ever reported were fixed fast as a matter of course.... You did a damn good job here, and if your real life takes you near programming/inventing things, you should mention and show this map. Its great, Thanks a lot.

Do you pay to run it or is it free..? I still hope we can find a proper programmer to continue BT one day, and the forum is the only place where this could happen i think. Also, nostalgic reasons, meeting people again etc..

hey exodus. i'm glad to see that u were able to find something else to occupy your time better than dealing with everlasting bugs, endless workarounds, and tedious map alterations.
I wonder why it couldn't be icefrog or some one else saying these things. I wonder, if there is a god, why does he take battletanks?
"why god?"
"why?"
If no one takes up the map, u might consider just taking a break and then picking up in a year or two where u left off. i mean, look at all what all the greats do after they retire. Mohammed alli, George Foreman, Mike Tyson, The Rolling Stones, Jay-Z, Metallica, Michael Jordan Tupac (not yet), Michael Jackson (maybe) etc. All these amazing people retired and then later came back to have mediocre to successful post-retirement careers.
if u absolutely positively couldn't get anyone else to take the map then i'd volunteer. i'd rather tkf or horselance do it though. i prefer to just play and make off-handed comments.
ne chance of getting a custom load screen in the last version? horselance, is it almost done? lol!
edit: ideas never die. they're only sometimes forgotten or changed into new ideas. the easy gameplay, subtle in-depth strategy and tactics, teamwork incentives, variety, and originality of btanks is in all of us. all we have to do is think of btanks and it'll still be with us in our hearts.
thanx a lot for all the great maps exodus. may u live to be 1 million years old and may only about 20 years of that be stuck in a cryogenic freezing chamber. may the rest of those years be spent doing whatever u feel like as u rule the universe with bob666 as your side and travel around the chosmos spreading the joy and happiness that is inherently derived from those who partake in your brilliance and benevolence. But not at your side in a gay way unless u two r into that.
Why's the rothchild family crest and the illuminati symbol on my 1 dollar bill? Why do rich and powerful American "christian" leaders have gay sex and worship a giant 40 foot stone owl at Beach Grove every year? Why doesn't anyone care?

Well if Bob666 is going to continue battle tanks after exodus is retiring, then it's good news.

It doesn't pay enough tribute to you to say that I cried when I heard the news from a clanmate. Thank you for everything, of course.
