Bot Advantage
#1
The other day I was trying to teach my buddy how to play btanks. I set up a same 2v2 (us vs bots). I understand the bots are challenging for new people but I am not commenting on that because the challenge is nice.

My problem with the bots is their unfair advantage towards items/tanks/control points. Bots instantly buy items/tanks at any shop and they teleport between control points instantly instead of the 2.5seconds. I think this makes bots completely unusable. How can anyone compete with instantaneous cp teleports. At one point the bots were capping a cp while we were capping theirs. A simple trade in any normal game but in this game the bots were 1 second a head of us on the cap. They capped and just as we were about to cap they both bought new tanks/items AND teleported to save their cp.

Does anyone else agree with me that this is ridiculous? If their is a logic reason for this than I apologize but if the reason is simply because the bots are still buggy than I think this needs to be fixed.

The bots do not have instant CP TP. However, they TP the moment they are in range to TP. I doubt they bought items, and they probably teleported immediately to you.

Do you have a replay of this?

That could help a lot.

so you say bots are to strong?

The bots use the same skill to teleport between Control Points, which just takes as long as it normally does. If you really happened to see something like this, a replay would be very helpful.

And with a lot of skill, you will be able to teleport like 'bots' i.e. initiate teleport as soon as you are in range. Also another skill is buying items while teleporting, while just in range of a shop. This is after factoring in delay.

Im sure exo could create triggers to make bots less 'botlike' by delaying their item buying and teleporting but that would a waste of time.

The only thing that I really don’t like about the bots is the fact, that they can buy every tank and every item from inside their base. I play quite often against bots to try different things and I’ve never seen such things as instant cp tp. They need just as long as everyone else.
Another thing that I’ve recognized is that in an AI game always one team is superior from the start until the end of the game. No matter how good the player is acting. I had several games in which I had damn good stats but the bots in my team sucked hard. In the end of one game I got almost all trophies but still my team lost the game. But maybe I played too selfish, refusing to help my AI team mates so they got killed. I think I have to pay attention to that in my next games…

Every bot is treated the same. There are no parameters or other decisions, which benefit a specific team or bot. Every bot uses the same algorythms.

Although this might be a bit OT:
How does the AI decide what to buy next? Is it random or do they react to something (i. e. getting killed frequently or whatever)?

Everytime they die, they check for their current max HP and tank value. Based on those two values they decide, whether they need a new tank or new weapons. If that's the case, they buy the most expensive ones they can afford (although they also consider weapon ranges). If they don't need either of those, they check, with a certain chance, if they want to buy one of the other items. So they don't react to their current kill-death-ratio or specific enemy tanks or items.

when i play with and against bots it always happens that the bots in my team(d force) are inferior to the other teams(l force) bots
i think this is because i almost get all kills so the bots in my team dont get money and only die(and i dont)

the kill:death score board looks like this in the end often:
dark force 123:73
me 97:3
blue 4:19
teal 7:16
purple 2:23
yellow 10:12

light force 73:123
orange 20:20
green 11:27
pink 10:28
grey 19:18
light blue 10:30

if you win or not against bots only depends on how good you use your big money earned by killing "stupid" bots
(stupid because you can trick bots easily, hey they are BOTS!)

but in my opinion the battletankbots are made quiete good and can(CAN!) be real challenge
(for example starting with short range in normal mode vs bots is not that easy, while bots totally suck vs boring long range massing)

Bot will always be weak because they run away when they reach half hp :p
I am so good that I don't even need to type -rc because I never die !

yep and you know that they will run away when hp is half down...

My primary issue with the bots at this point is the fact that they wait until they are at 100% HP before moving from a factory, whether they can snag a kill or not by moving 50 units over, or avoid dying by moving back. This makes long range really cheap.

Another issue is the fact that bots don't farm. Once a bot gets behind, he just keeps coming back to the 5v5 battle and dies again, after farming about 75 gold. They should instead move off to a sidelane if their max HP is REALLY too low, and farm for a while. I don't want to see no-hulled demolishers fighting when I am a level 19 goblin tank with about 15k worth of items.

These are the two main issues that make the bots so bad.

Exodus Wrote:So they don't react to their current kill-death-ratio or specific enemy tanks or items.

That doesn’t seem to be the whole truth. Yesterday I played a game against AI. I went exploder (it’s so ridiculous easy against them…) and invested my gold into massive troop spamming. After capturing side lanes with techmech I bought 3 factories, a tcc and lots of upgrades. Short after I set up the production at mid the enemy bots bought several creep only weapons. So they do react to certain strategies. They don’t do very well, though.

Well, that was just pure coincidence then.

Sure? It happend two times... Well, two times in the same game. I saved, played around a bit and went for troop spamming. --> AI buys anti creep weaponry. I loaded the save to try something slightly different, but went for troop spamming again. --> AI buys anti creep weaponry.Smile I'll try it again today or tomorrow and tell what happens.

bots get only creep weapons in nearly everygame i play with them oO

Yes, they do. But that is not what I mean. In the game I was corresponding to the bots bought several anti creep weapons short after I set up the factories. I’m talking about two of them per bot (one had even three I think).

/I've just tried it again. Almost same strategy. Nothing happend. Only one bot bought an anti creep weapon...Sad So... Never mind.Big Grin

i noticed that bots could buy a w8pon wherever they are, it is very stressfull. But maybe it has been fixed recently ........

I think bots should wait each other and dont rush alone vs severals ennemies, it is suicide.
Moreover sometimes they rush you while you are stronger. It is so stupid .....

They should know when they can engage a battle. For example when you are capturing a factory, you see them tp one per one and die like ants !!!

When a bot exploder ??? a bot which is setting mines ??? a ranged tinker ??? ^^

But for now, i think the things wich should be fixed in priority :

-Bots dont sell their current items when they are full
-Bots dont upgrade their current item to pack (speed pack to ultimate pack for example) even if they are enough slots available.

Anyway, bots are getting stronger and stronger and that's a really good job, thanksWink.

P.S : Demon Tank AI doesn't spell banish to air ennemies.

bots cant play tinker, miner, exploder cause there is no script yet.

bots do wait for other bots if the enemy is too strong(not at cp defend, thats right)

bots do sell old weapons when the inventory is full and they can buy for example photonbombs or psycholaser(i think so, otherwise im wondering how i was fighting bots with multiple psycholasers in a normal game)

yep demon does not use banish, but did you have ever seen a light tank bot using heal skill, a heli bot using bombardement or a demolisher bot mines?

i think every tank has one ability which is not used by bots, dont know why =(
