how does the conquest victory timer work

i know that when you capture all the bases that the timer starts to count down, but once you lose a base what happens then? does the timer just pause or how does it count back? i just played a conquest victory game and we recaptured 2 bases and held them for at least 5 minutes, but once we lost them again we had only gained about 45 extra seconds on the CV clock.

In the Conquest Victory-mode, your team has to own all 6 Control Points for 15 minutes to win the game. When you lose one CP, the timer slowly goes back to the 15 minutes mark again, so you won't lose the whole progress, just because of one lost CP.
