afk bug?!
#1
I was afk for 1 hour. I knew I had 1 grenade launcher and 1 light plasma gun. Somehow when I returned back, my grenade laucher was gone! how? I had 1 reinforcements or something like that instead.

and there was no share mode either.
#2
hmm perhaps it was upgraded and dropable after upgrade, possible?

EDIT: "-afk", or just away without activating the command?
#3
I think it has to to with the change mode feature. that why it was dropable, but I dunno.
#4
changemode and upgrade is nearly the same

so you used "-afk"?

EDIT: if you are afk the item will stay undropable now after upgrading, so fixed
#5
Just look at the replay what happened?
#6
sry my banlist crashed when I was afk, and It always saves the replays of every game (as long it doesn't crash). I don't have replay from that battle.

Hi all,

Since about v8.24 me and my friends sometimes receive a fatal error:
Exception: 0xC0000005 (ACCESS_VIOLATION) at 001B:6F095B15
The instruction at 0x6F095B15 referenced memory at 0x00000008.
The memory could not be read.

Since v8.30 we were not able to play even a single round without crashing, with the crash occuring anywhere between the first 5 minutes and late in the game.

Doing some web research, we all checked our RAM first (using memtest86 and windiag), with no errors.
According to Blizzard online support, we used the regfix in their support forum to reset all hardware settings - no improvement either.
Could you perhaps check the following thread on WC3Campaigns, http://66.166.149.149/showthread.php?t=89758, who mention the same error in context with triggers? Perhaps by adding/adjusting a skill something went haywire.

Regards,

Rakhu

PS: Maybe one clue may help you: it "seems" to me like the crash occurs more often right after using the air ship's lightning skill. This could only be by chance though.

Hi there,

well, critical errors are nearly always difficult to find. Some rare criticals are always happening, but when you are saying that you are getting them everytime it has to something different. If its really a problem of the map I'd say more people would write here about it ...

When trying to fix a critical error, we need as much information as we can. Maybe the most important question is, are you playing with bots?
Since the Lightning skill of the Air Ship is just a ladder skill, without any trigger involved there, I guess this one is not the reason for the crash.

Yes, we're playing with bots, usually full house 5vs5. As I said, the error has occured since earlier versions, but since 8.30 we were not able to finish a single game. Of course this could be simply bad luck too, but it seems more likely that one of the changes has increased the chance for the crash. Would the additional information in the message board thread above be of any help to you? If so, could you please advise me how to produce this extended error log?
#10
I don't think that the error log will be of any help for us. I'm pretty sure that the AI is causing the critical errors. So you should be able to play without errors when there are no bots around, at least.

Most likely it will be nearly impossible to find out what causes the error by simply playing and observing what happens. Guess we have to look through the complete AI-scripts to find out what may cause the fatal. In case you see the AI doing something specific right before the crash occurs (like is going to use an ability, buy an item, upgrade an item, change the tank, etc) then write it here.

The fatal error occurs when I'm playing with computers; I've experienced it sometimes. I don't know why this happens with AI, but it's sort of an older bug which also is familar with the older versions of Battle Tanks. But fatal errors extremely rarely happens when playing with human players only. That's the most important thing for b.net players whcih usually don't have computer players ^^

When I'm on lan, we use to have computers just for fun and to fill out the slots.
#12
yes, first try if you can play the map without bots

i played 8.30 with 2 bots online and we had no critical error, so i dont know what it can be... how much RAM do you have? its also sometimes the reason that your RAM is full of leaks
#13
i played a game on 8.10 vs bots, no error.

but another strange behavior of the bots: if they are between the upper and the middle lane, have no cps left and have below 50% hp, they want to retreat to their (light force's) base.

they get stuck (better: they move back and forwards on a very small area, where are some trees behind them to their base.

i think they always change their decision, which way they want to come to their base ^^
#14
yes, right... i noticed that some time ago, too, but didnt fix it...^^ perhaps i can place some more trees there...
#15
I noticed that behaviour too - it also occurs between the middle and right lane, they get stuck on the lower side of the fence (though less often than between left/middle lane)
#16
Interesting, no error when playing solo with 4 PCs vs. 5 PCs... works for my friends too. Are there any multi-human-player related triggers for the bots? Like chosing paths to closest human player, targeting human player or similar?
Other than that, the only difference is that we're not playing on BNet, but through a virtual LAN using Hamachi v1.0.1.5. We're not using the current version from Hamachi because they messed something up badly and Warcraft wouldn't recognize open games anymore. Of course it *could* be related to this tool as well, but how network connectivity would influence map internal triggers eludes me...
#17
The AI is purely scripted, even they fight different if their weapons has different range, cuz many of the weapons range has been added in the script as well. They will always keep a long distance, to if you try to hammer with a goblin tank, they will starting running from you.

About their decisions, the light force coms seem to move back and fourth in 2 areas near to the main base. I don't know why they do it. Unfortunately I got no screenshots to show you that.
#18
Maybe I should behave more like a computer player to prevent that errorWink
#19
:D

i will let the bots play a game with that grimoire tool activated and see if it recognizes any problems
#20
Unfortunately I have no idea of map making - could I use this tool too to report errors, or does this only work with the map source? If there is a way I'd volunteer for a "debug version", if that is an option. I can assure you that we play enough to reproduce this error Big Grin
