architect is too annoying, needs changes

I tried another game with architect, giving an old love of mine another chance. As much as I love him, I don't think I will use him much more he is just annoying to play. I spent more time frustrated with his controls then actually playing the damn game. I hope some changes can be made to the tank and other factors to make him just a tad more enjoyable rather than annoying

* Barrage Fire: His Q skill is so damn slow! You use the skill... wait... wait... 'falls asleep'... wait... by the time the damn projecting connects the enemy had either already died or escaped. Can we speed the projectile up to make it a REAL barrage fire ...not barrage tar >.>

* Cannon Module: This has got to be his most annoying skill by far. The cannon module does not allow itself to be rebuffed while the skill is in duration. Combined with its short duration, it becomes incredibly frustrating watching the damn status window more than the game itself just so you don't end up in battle without the buff active. Either make the skill both passive and active (passive on self, active on others with a cooldown increase so it isn't op) OR increase the duration+cooldown and allow one-self to rebuff with it so we don't have to have our friggen eyes glued to the damn status window all the time. Pure Auto-cast without a passive isn't a good idea since the warcraft AI tends to be stupid when pure auto-casting buffs (although passive cannon on self with auto-cast on others will be very conveniant, this is the best way to go I think).

* Mass Converter: Well some improvements are nice, splash cannon costing less mana and the implimentation of mana converter does help. Unfortunately for the price you pay and the waste-of-slot, mass converter just doesn't cut it unless your against many ghost-tanks. I like Raptors idea with making burst/reflective armor part of the mass converter blueprint. This will make the converter more on par with other expensive defensive items and less of a wasted slot. (It would also be nice if mass converter replaced the 2% HP for the repair bots 150HP/Sec instead. The 2% life steal is a HUGE downgrade of repair-bots 150 regen, )

His Q Skill AoE-slows while being in the air, can be really useful.

Cannon Module rebuffable at all times would be nice indeed.


Also architect is the most fun tank to play in my opinion. Teleporter + portals is so much fun.

He is fun to play, which is why it is such a shame he is just so annoying to play as well >.>

Yeah the damn Cannon module needs a revamp to make it less annoying. I hope mass converter gets abit of a buff as well

I think you confuse the gameplay of architect. It's just a tank which needs more skills than other tanks, why do you consider it annoying?

You have never played architect much have you Undecided

Notice some of the other threads the majority of people seem to agree at the very least that cannon module is annoying. "More skills" than other tanks isn't a smart comment, there is no skill in watching your status window 24/7 that is just an unnecessary annoyance that can easily be changed.

Well, I disagree and agree. It is in fact a skill to watch the status window, it's like any other spamable spell - you must not forget about using it constantly. But I do agree that being unable to recast the cannon module while it is still active is annoying. I wouldn't like a passive cannon module, and I am not sure about any kind of autocast, but recasting should be always possible.

I would like to see an autocast for the splash cannon. I'm always puzzled about itUndecided

By saying "needs more skills" I wasn't speaking about watching the status bar for 24/7 of course. . . I was speaking about the way you need to play the tank, how you need to play with portals, how to micro units(ult), when and who to buff with a cannon, when to use Q skill on other tanks + mana considerations/limitations + positioning + . .+ . . +. .


I just disagree with your statement "watching 24/7 the status window". 30 seconds is not a short duration since most of the fights long less than 30 seconds. What I personally do is buffing my teammates first and when the fight approaches I buff myself also. So i don't consider this annoying but an improvement can be made. Plus, why should I continuously check my status window within the 15/20 seconds interval?

Is there a way to add a timer on each buff? So the remaining time can be shown in the status bar.

A timer on the buff is an interesting suggestion, though just making the skill rebuffable will resolve the problem very easily. I hope the next update improves his cannon module to be rebuffable at the very least.

Architects portals and his ulti are fine. His ulti in particular received a nice and much needed buff. His Q skill is do able.

On a side note, Mass converter is abit of a greviance I hope they buff it as well. The item in general is suitable for most architect builds but the item itself isn't worth it. The repair bots actually get downgraded by making it 2%hp steal and it just is not worth wasting an entire slot on. I really liked Raptors idea with making a blueprint to combine it with Deflective/burst. Im almost finished making the new weapons suggestions I might add mass converter in there also.

Hey guys. There were technical reasons, why the Cannon Module was not rebuffable. But I made some changes and now you will be able to recast it on the same target ;) Also, the buff icon will start blinking, when the duration nears its end.

I also agree with the current state of the Mass Converter. I'll change it, so it will definately be worth it, to get it.
