BTT 2010 registration sharply ended in August 22nd, 2010
#1
Today the mappers released btanks v8.71. This version will be used for the BTT 2010 games. The players who have registered or going to register for BTT may start getting used to this map. (there is no major difference than 8.70 though) Hope the version 8.71 is stable enough for the BTT.

The BTT 2010 will be open for registration for 2 more weeks from now on. i.e. the registration period will be finished until August 15, 2010. No more registration is allowed after that. Then we will wait for another 1 week for the team member confirmation procedure (ended in August 22, 2010). If any team is not yet finished confirmation by that time, the registration is considered invalid and the team will lose the chance to play the BTT.

During the same time, the registered team can train for the new 8.71 map.

We will announce detailed game time after August 22nd.

Updated by olivercamel on August 15th:
As the announced planning before, today we should close the registration. But due to we hope to have 16 teams for the tournament (Now we only had 11 teams, plus 2 teams under registration). We will extend the registration for 1 more week.

1. the registration for BTT-2010 will close sharply at 24:00 on August 22nd, 2010.
2. we will start the games no matter how many teams we got at that time.
3. the teams failed to finish registration or finish the confirmation procedure before the deadline will lose the chance to play BTT-2010

As you can see we've already released a 8.71b bugfix version. We may release a 8.71c before the tounament and fix additional bugs. But we won't change other stuff in the map. So the current 8.71b is the map to prepare for the BTT.

Would it be possible to test out the "bots"/host who will be hosting the competition games prior to the Tournament Time? BT League bots currently seem very unfriendly to AUSTRALIA players atm (Even more so then in the past) and few of us currently experiencing auto-kick from joining even though we are on the quickest internet speeds available in this country.

Also what are the rules regarding arranging practice tournament games with the other registered team? Are we allowed to do it on our own?

The problem for australia players is the huge air-line distance which is about 13.000 - 17.000 kilometers. If you only consider the propagation dalay this air-line distance will introduce a latency of about 65ms - 85ms (one direction with a direct link). In addition you have delays in routers in the network and also in your access network.

Maybe we can find another serverlocation depending on the geographical location of the teams.

Concerning the practicing: i think there are no limitations. You are free to practice with/against every player/team you want to.

There is a possibility to increase the ping limit of the BT bots so aussie players can stay without the bot kicking them.

The autokick is no problem, the porblem is the delay they will have.

If both teams agree to do it, we don't see why it is not allowed.

You can send PM to the person who registered for the team, to ask if they would do it or not.

If you make a definite game time, you can also send it to me. If we have a referee plus the bot ready at that time, we will try to host the game for you.

For the official BTT games, we will always define a time for both team to test the bot before the real games.

Velo do you got any idea where we can find another serverlocation more friendly for AUS team? (we also have a korean team with similar situation too).

Currently i don#t know. Renting a server just for some of the BTT games is quite expensive. Maybe we can test one server in the US. Not sure how good the connections are from australia/asia to the US.

Today we updated the planning.

We will extend 1 week for btt registration. But we won't extend more after that.

Please register before the deadline. And also make sure to finish the confirmation procedure. Otherwise the team loses chance to play as well.
