Does this command have anything to with greater lag, the more you zoom the more you lag?

Depends on which kind of lag. More zoom needs more computing and thereby ressources which can cause lag created by your hardware.

It certainly can not create more lag in the sense that your connection to the server becomes worse though.

And the wc3 engine is kinda weird in terms of performance - better hardware won't help much, the engine simple does fail at displaying too many objects at the same time

if your a good "minimap player" you dont need more then 4500.
good players see other players coming before they appear on their screen nevermind if you have 4500 or max zoom.

you can also use porter on minimap. as attacker the 4500 is enough becouse you have more time to scroll to the target to make an accurate jump and for escaping doubleclick is the better choice for like 90% of the time.
is saw myself diing too often trying to use an accorate save jump failing becouse of:
- too late
- too much distance
- invalid location
