I think that it may be fun that after an amount of time( 30 min) the composition of the troop changes.
Adding some more different troops. These creep would have a higher bonus concerning the upgrade. Then the increase of upgrad at beginning of the game would be less effective than at the end.
I am so good that I don't even need to type -rc because I never die !
