in my humble opinion 5k hb just requires faster decision making. that's all. period.
all the QQ'ing about imbalance is just funny to me. This whole situation, it reminds me of a chess master who can't play a 1 minute game but can do great in a 2.5 hour game who creates a league for long games. Except in our scenario we have no control over it since a popular mode was completely removed from autohosting as opposed to chess where we could still make our own 1 min game leagues and whichever was more popular would just be more popular.
well, i happen to prefer games which require me to think faster but it appears that the current devs and mappers don't. so, in there quest to find more friends to play with they'd rather just force everyone to either not play at all or adapt to their preferences.
in a hb game vs a non-hb game it's also my humble opinion that the balance of power tips just as fast in both modes; depending on the skill of the players. For my games in both modes, sometimes it's under 10 min and sometimes it's 3 hours. to me it's always just seemed to be an issue of skill, teamwork, knowledge, resolve, and a little bit of luck.
there were plenty of dudes already going 100-0 against teams of noobs before 5khb was ever used in any of my games so i don't see how removing 5khb is going to help with that. And there was plenty of 10 minute games when I was playing with my friends way before i played 5khb so i don't see how it's supposed to help with that either. what's fascinating to me is that sometimes people don't leave in situations like that. that's part of the reason why i love the map so much. it's nice to have something that's so fun and challenging that people want to learn it despite all the difficulties and lack of correct tooltips and essential winning tactical and strategic information anywhere in the map itself.
about 300 years ago in chess there was supposedly a big change and evolution made in europe that changed it from asian versions which are still played today. the pawns were allowed to move forward 2 spaces instead of 1 for it's first move only. and also, i don't know when but the promotion of pawns was buffed from only prisioners and only non-royalty, to up to 8 higher forces including the queen if you choose. These things were done in order to make it more exciting and to attract more new players. but in recognition that too much of the old goodness of the game was lost, a new rule was made to allow en-passant to counter the extra early power of the pawn.
i propose slowly moving up the bounty every few months 7 percent so that it has reached the level of the old hb or something similiar. solely because i believe that this would be a small sacrifice to pay to truly make the game more uniform to all players and yet still retain the noob appeal. noobs learn faster when their mistakes are made clearer faster. the higher bounty undeniably does that.
Why's the rothchild family crest and the illuminati symbol on my 1 dollar bill? Why do rich and powerful American "christian" leaders have gay sex and worship a giant 40 foot stone owl at Beach Grove every year? Why doesn't anyone care?
