The system with this method (enter -> chat mode, enter -> normal mode) isn't quite accurate, sometimes it doesn't seem to work. Then you have to press enter to open the chat frame and then click with your mouse somewhere on the screen (which will close the chat frame). I think the program won't register your click and thatswhy it won't change the mode.
