The average BT game has become longer... since 8.15

The changes made since 8.15, had some side effects, like greatly increased gameplay duration. Personally I liked the shorter BT games that often occurred in 8.15, but the 8.26 versions matches is always 35-90 min long (With the exception of total - early leaving). Defenders usually uses factory/troop command and defenders is usually feeders, but they're worth little to kill, and if we attackers get killed, it's birthday party for the defenders. Probably many have noticed that the BT games are longer than you we're used to.

These changes increased gameplay duration.

1: The unit spawner factory came in 8.20
2: The bounty formula introduced in 8.20 made the average gameplay longer, makes the feeders give less gold and gives longer time to earn much gold. It's lessened in 8.22.
3: Player creeps have same amount of HP as the Force creeps, change made in 8.21. This does also make troop command better.
4: The double upgrades came in 8.24, which makes the force stronger twice as fast. This does strengthen the player creeps faster too!
5: Also the income bonus from upgrades was removed too, that happened in 8.24 too.
6: The tower regen has been increased. That is missing download info, so I don't know when this was added, but it isn't minor.
7: Adding minor bounty to player creeps in 8.26 does lengthen a BT game little.


Probably many BT players likes that the average gameplay has become longer, but I personally don't like it so much, and miss the shorter 8.15 games. :|

I felt very comfortable with the 8.15 average gamelength. But the 8.26 games lasts a bit too long. I don't like 1-1.5 hour games and longer, which happens very often in 8.26.

i think its okay if a game takes 1 hour, but in 8.26 it stucks after ~40mins... so you're right... in 8.26 these games arent funny

After rebalancing the formula, it has stabilized the gameplay, and it feels like the bounty barely changes on kills/death ratio. Also the troop timer of reinforcements and troop command makes the troops short living assistance. Also there is other changes.

Thus I find the gameplay in 8.28, on average a bit short than the previous 8.1x versions, but not as short as 8.15 gameplay, a bit longer.

That depends on if you find the shorter games better than longer games. Bad if you hate short games :mrgreen: (Well I don't :evil: ). In this case I find it better when the games are not to long.

What is the current game length? I have played around 15 8.67d/f games and 10 went for 1 hour+ and the other 5 were public games with normal noob pros that went for 45-60 min.

Yeah, private games with professional players tend to take more time. But that's why they are professional - and the other way 'round.

Some of the most epic games I've played were private and completely balanced and lasted about 90 minutes. Anything over 90 minutes is a bit tiresome.

In 8.67d I am finding that having an early game leaver severely impacts a team's ability to defend against a team with more players.

To answer the topic question.... of course!

8.15 was awesome. 20 minute games on normal. There was a bit of grunt on the weapons and specials.
There was a huge lag issue in one of the 8.x series.
From then, it was just nerf after nerf on tanks and specials but it compensated with additional tanks and weapons.

At the moment, 8.65 is the only good version. But trader needs to be nerfed down to such little HP that it can only trade in its own territory. I don't mind that games go on longer. There's just so much tanks and weapons in the game that it needs to last.
I hate 8.67d. AI doesn't work. I actually experience the opposite to GEN_Schwarzkopf. When one of my team mates d/c from a game in 8.67d, our team becomes way too strong because of force gold.
