Well, the Exploder can ignore breakers with CP-Teleport especially on mid lane.
With the Exploder disabled, the additional tank with some weapons is not a big problem.
Using explosives, you can kill enemy tanks which are way more expensive than your own tank.
When your team is pushed back to base, their is usually at least one player, who could not keep up with the enemy team in terms of gold (bad stats).
With explosives, this player can still be a problem to the enemy team.
Without explosives, he is just another easy target.
