If you're going aggressive like fairly early Poison Magic usually means, its better to go Poison -> Teleport -> Troops for the same cost as 2x Poison. Either that or a more defensive/team build with Gold Hull as 2nd major item. Also, upgrade Poison Magic, in most cases you'll have them until the end of the game and it pays off. But I guess this mostly comes down to what you prefer playing with.
I think getting poison before teleporter is a mistake in general (except with antigrav probably). A poison without the mobility is useless. Mobility without poison is already very strong.
